Mercedes-Benz S-Class W220 W221 W222 W223 Door Visors – Side Window Deflectors for Four Generations of the Flagship Sedan

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the German luxury flagship sedan that has defined the segment since 1972. The 1999-Present era covers four distinct generations: the W220 (1999-2005, debut of the current rounded "Baroque" styling language), the W221 (2006-2013, sharper creases and Night View Assist), the W222 (2013-2020, the all-aluminum body and Magic Body Control), and the W223 (2020-Present, MBUX Hyperscreen and Level 3 autonomous driving). This product page consolidates door visors engineered to fit each generation's unique window channel and door frame geometry.

Why S-Class Owners Choose Aftermarket Door Visors

The S-Class is widely used in three distinct owner profiles, each with specific venting requirements:

  • Executive chauffeured fleets (China, Middle East, Singapore, Hong Kong): Long-wheelbase S500L/S580L and Maybach variants operate with rear-seat passengers in tropical or subtropical climates. Cracked-window ventilation without rain ingress is essential for air circulation during long chauffeured transfers.

  • Private owner daily drivers (Germany, USA, UK, Japan, Korea): Drivers prefer subtle, OEM-style side window deflectors that preserve the factory chrome trim and frameless door aesthetic while enabling low-speed ventilation in traffic or parking.

  • Hospitality and VIP transport (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Eastern Europe): Armored and stretched Pullman variants (including S600 Pullman Guard, Mercedes-Maybach S650 Pullman) require robust visors that withstand high-temperature operation and frequent entry/exit cycles.

Material and Finish Selection

Three material options are available, each with distinct visual and functional characteristics:

  • PC (polycarbonate): The most flexible and impact-resistant material, suited for the large curvature of W222 and W223 frameless doors. PC bends to large extents without cracking, ideal for vehicles with aggressive door-frame radii.

  • Acrylic (PMMA): Rigid with high optical clarity, suited for installations prioritizing visual transparency over flexibility.

  • PS (polystyrene): The most economical and is typically paired with chrome/steel trim inserts (electroplated bright strip, mirror stainless steel, or 3D stainless steel). The traditional choice for S-Class owners seeking the original factory appearance.

Chrome Trim Design Options

Three chrome trim designs are available to match the S-Class aesthetic:

  • Electroplated Bright Strip: Chrome-plated plastic trim with high-shine metallic luster and anti-oxidation surface treatment. Best paired with PS material body for a traditional factory appearance.

  • Mirror Stainless Steel: Smooth, single-reflection design that fits flush into the door visor groove. Creates an "embedded" appearance.

  • 3D Stainless Steel: Curved, multi-angle reflection design that complements the door visor's natural curve. Best paired with PC material body for maximum flexibility.

Compatibility Note for Long-Wheelbase and Maybach Variants

The W220, W221, W222, and W223 long-wheelbase variants (V220, V221, V222, V223) share the same rear door frame geometry as their short-wheelbase counterparts. Maybach S-Class (W222-based, 2015-2020; W223-based, 2021-Present) and Pullman derivatives are supported across all four generations. The rear quarter window of Pullman variants (extended rear doors) requires a separate fitment not covered by this SKU — contact us for bespoke Pullman fitment.

Machining Details

  • The machining accuracy of injection molding is relatively better than plastic uptake process, its machinable thickness is controlled at 2.0mm to 2.5mm.

  • The mold opening cost of plastic uptake process is lower than injection molding, its machinable thickness is controlled at 1.2mm to 1.8mm.

  • The widening of door visors are based on the car models.

  • The color of the protective film covers on the chrome/steel trim is transparent or blue. The color can be custom built by buyer.

Chrome trim for door visors --- Electroplated bright strip shape designElectroplated bright strip shape design with PS material main body

Electroplated Bright Strip Shape Design

Electroplated bright trims are processed with chrome plating technology on high-quality plastic blanks. The processed chrome-plated bright trim can present a more shiny metallic luster under high light compared to 3D stainless steel decorative strips. When touched by hand, the curvature of the electroplated bright trim is more three-dimensional and rounder than that of the 3D stainless steel chrome trim. To improve weather resistance characteristics, anti-oxidation surface treatment can be applied to electroplated bright trims. Electroplated bright trim s are usually matched with PS materials.

Mirror Stainless Steel Design

The design of mirror stainless steel creates a nearly embedded installation for the chrome trim, which is smoothly installed in the groove of the door visor. The chrome trim fits smoothly into the groove of the door visor, providing a smooth feel when touched by hand. This smooth design reflects light differently from 3D stainless steel designs, with a single reflection angle that makes it look more like a flat mirror when reflecting objects. The large curvature of the door visor main body complements the smooth decorative design, creating an obvious turning point relationship and enhancing its overall aesthetic appeal.

3D Stainless Steel Design

The shape of the 3D stainless steel trim is more three-dimensional and rounded than the mirror stainless steel shape. The top and bottom sides of the chrome trim and the protruding vertex in the middle form a curved design. When touched by hand, you can intuitively feel the change in curvature. This curved shape produces varying reflection effects under high light at different angles. The main body of the door visor itself already has a certain curve design, and when they are paired together, they show a more traditional design style. 3D Stainless steel chrome trims are commonly used with PC material door visors. The flexibility of the PC material allows for this type of door visor with such a design can be bent to a large extent.

Aftermarket Supply Note for the 1999-Present Mercedes-Benz S-Class Platform

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is in continuous production since 1972, with the W220 introduced in 1998 (for the 1999 model year) and the latest W223 launched in 2020. Each generation typically runs 7-8 years, with mid-cycle facelifts (e.g. W221 facelift in 2009, W222 facelift in 2017) introducing updated front and rear styling while retaining the core door and window frame geometry.

AutoBridge supplies aftermarket door visors engineered to OEM-fit tolerances for all four current generations, supporting the W220's curved "Baroque" door frame, the W221's sharper creased door lines, the W222's frameless aluminum doors, and the W223's latest MBUX-integrated frameless design.

  • The Description Difference between Model Years and Production Years

Due to our use of open network databases, like Wikipedia and Autohome, for some of our vehicle data, there might be minor variations in the descriptions found in our SKU designs. "Production Years" are the years when a specific model is first introduced to the public market. On the other hand, "Model Years" refer to the different versions of a model that were available to consumers in different years. These differences in model years often come with changes to the exterior or interior design of the vehicle. When searching for car information on websites or through dealers, typically you are searching based on 'Model Years'. For instance, the third generation of the Honda Accord was introduced on June 4th, 1985, and ceased production in 1989. ‘1985-1989’ represents the ‘Production Years’ of the Accord, while the ‘Model Years’ in automobile databases are listed as ‘1986-1989’. Due to the different sources of information, there may be differences in the way they are presented. As our products cover car parts and accessories, we have incorporated both "Production Years" and "Model Years" terminology. Please note this.
  • Compatibility Description of Auto Parts

Autobridge™ (Xiamen) provides a wide range of OES, aftermarket replacement parts, including AC compressors, cylinder heads, oil pumps, power steering pumps, starter motors, and turbochargers. These components are installed in powertrains, steering systems, rear axle assemblies, and chassis assemblies. Auto parts need to meet the design specifications and performance requirements of the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts, as well as comply with local regulations or CAPA certification. Depending on the requirements based on OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) for material or design improvements, aftermarket parts may outperform the original genuine parts.
