Z50 (2002-2007) – 1st Gen. Front door window channels are slightly narrower than later generations. Select tape-on or clip-on mounting for best fit. Note: 2008 model year Murano does not exist (transition year between Z50 and Z51).
Z51 (2009-2014) – 2nd Gen. Window channels widened by approximately 1.5mm vs Z50. In-channel mounting is suitable for most Z51 units. CrossCabriolet (2011-2014 convertible) has different front door geometry — confirm with AutoBridge before ordering.
Z52 (2015-Present) – 3rd Gen. Slimmer window channel trim due to "floating roof" design. In-channel mounting is preferred for the cleanest OEM-style appearance that preserves the roof-line visual flow. All four mounting methods (clip-on, tape-on, in-channel, out-channel) are compatible.
Tape-On (3M VHB) – Adheres to the exterior door frame above the window channel. Strongest wind resistance. Recommended for US highway drivers and Middle Eastern climates where high-speed crosswinds and extreme heat demand secure attachment. Allow 24 hours curing in dry conditions before car wash.
In-Channel – Slides into the upper window channel rubber seal. No adhesive on exterior paint. Cleanest look — recommended for Z52 3rd-Gen Murano owners who prioritize OEM-style aesthetics. May cause slightly tighter window closure for the first 2-3 days until the rubber seal acclimates to the visor thickness.
Clip-On – Metal spring clips press between window glass and door frame rubber seal. Completely reversible, no residue. Common for Z50 1st-Gen Murano owners in Japan who prefer non-permanent modifications.
Out-Channel – Mounts outside the window channel on the door frame exterior. Easier to install than in-channel but more visible. Suitable for all three generations.
For US / Canada: If installing during winter, warm the door frame to at least 15°C (60°F) using a heat gun or indoor garage before tape-on application. Cold surfaces reduce 3M VHB initial bond strength.
For Middle East: Pre-clean door frame with isopropyl alcohol to remove desert dust and sand residue. Install in shade during early morning or evening to prevent rapid adhesive curing under direct sun.
For China / Southeast Asia: In high-humidity regions, wipe the door frame dry with a microfiber cloth immediately before adhesive application. Humidity can create a micro-film of moisture that weakens the bond.
For Russia / Eastern Europe: For winter climates with road salt exposure, clean the door frame thoroughly to remove salt residue — salt crystals embedded in the frame surface prevent proper adhesive contact.
After tape-on installation, avoid automatic car washes for 48 hours. Hand wash only during the first week. For in-channel installations, operate the windows fully up and down 5-10 times immediately after installation to help the rubber seal settle around the visor thickness. For all mounting methods, avoid using ammonia-based glass cleaners on visor surfaces — use mild soap and water instead to prevent fogging or discoloration of PC and acrylic materials.
