Daily-Driving Mud Protection for the 4th-Gen Toyota Yaris

The 4th-generation Toyota Yaris (XP210) is the first Yaris built on Toyota's TNGA-B (GA-B) platform — a low-floor, high-rigidity small-car architecture that places the wheels closer to the body corners for a more planted, mature ride. This new platform shifts the wheel arch geometry versus the 3rd-gen (XP130) Yaris, requiring generation-specific mud flap design. Our XP210-specific contour prevents the tire-thrown water, mud, and gravel that the GA-B platform's wider front/rear tracks now project further back and further up the body sides.

Use Case 1: Urban Commuter in Equatorial Climates

For Yaris owners in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines, monsoon-season driving throws dense, oily road spray onto the lower doors and side sills. The XP210 mud flaps deflect this spray away from the door bottoms, reducing wash frequency and protecting the factory paint from accumulated grime that bonds under high humidity.

Use Case 2: Gulf Region Summer Driving

In UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait, summer ambient temperatures of 45–55 °C combined with occasional sand storms expose the lower bodywork to abrasive fine particles. TPE-grade flaps (in addition to standard PP) provide the flexibility retention needed to resist cracking under repeated thermal cycling, while the black colour matches the OEM lower-body cladding on XP210 GR Sport and Z-grade trim packages.

Use Case 3: European Winter Road-Salt Protection

In Germany, France, the UK, and the Netherlands, the 1.5-litre hybrid XP210 (1.5 HEV) is sold in high volumes as a small family commuter. Winter road salt corrodes the rear wheel arch lips and suspension components. Mud flaps create a physical barrier that reduces salt accumulation in the wheel-well cavity — extending the service life of rear brake components and suspension bushings on the torsion-beam rear axle shared across the GA-B platform.

XP210-Specific Contour Engineering & Material Grades

Generation-Specific Fitment

The 4th-generation Yaris is the first Yaris to use the TNGA-B (GA-B) platform. Wheel arch dimensions, bumper cut-line geometry, and lower-body cladding profiles are all new versus the 3rd-gen XP130 (2011-2020). Our mud flaps are designed to the 2020-2023 XP210 production-year specification — including both the pre-facelift (2020-2022) and the minor facelift (2022-2023) bumper cut-lines. Order placed against an older Yaris generation (e.g., 2014 XP130) will not fit and will require the prior-generation SKU.

Mud Flap Installation Methods & Mounting Hardware for the 4th-Gen Yaris (XP210)

The Yaris XP210 mud flap is engineered for dealer-level installability — no drilling, no body-panel modification, and no special tools required. All fasteners are pre-cut to OEM specifications matching the factory pre-drilled holes on the GA-B platform's wheel arch liners. The complete 4-piece set installs in approximately 15–20 minutes using only a Phillips screwdriver and a rubber mallet.

2. Installation Procedure (Front Wheel Pair)

  1. Clean the wheel arch lip with isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth — allow to dry for 60 seconds before flap placement.

  2. Align the front flap against the wheel arch's lower-rear curve, matching the pre-marked contour guide. The flap edge should sit 5 mm above the tire contact patch at static ride height.

  3. Press firmly along the tape line for 30 seconds to activate the VHB adhesive bond.

  4. Insert the 4 self-tapping screws through the pre-drilled holes using a Phillips screwdriver. Apply moderate torque (do not over-tighten, or the plastic boss will strip).

  5. Insert the 4 U-clips along the inner edge of the flap, pushing until the click is felt.

Time required: 7–8 minutes per side. Tools needed: Phillips screwdriver, isopropyl alcohol, lint-free cloth.

3. Installation Procedure (Rear Wheel Pair)

  1. Same cleaning and alignment process as the front wheel pair.

  2. The rear flap uses 2 self-tapping screws + 4 U-clips + 2 expansion rivets (vs. 4+4+0 for the front), reflecting the GA-B platform's different rear wheel arch geometry.

  3. The expansion rivets are pressed into the underbody's pre-existing service holes — no drilling required.

Time required: 5–6 minutes per side. Special tool: Rubber mallet (to seat the expansion rivets).

4. Post-Installation Quality Check

  • Verify the flap edge is parallel to the tire's outer sidewall (visual check from behind the wheel).

  • Confirm no gap between the flap and the wheel arch lip at any point (a gap > 2 mm will allow spray infiltration).

  • Drive 50 metres forward and reverse, then re-check all fasteners for tightness (VHB adhesive requires this initial cure period).

  • Re-tighten after 24 hours of normal driving (recommended for PP+TPE and TPE variants which expand in heat).

5. Removal & Reinstallation

For leased vehicles or fleet rotations, the mud flap is fully reversible. Heat the VHB tape edge with a hair dryer for 60 seconds, then use a plastic trim removal tool to release the adhesive. New 3M VHB tape (3M 4950P) can be re-applied — order the 12 mm × 5 m replacement roll separately. No body-panel damage occurs during removal.

  • The Description Difference between Model Years and Production Years

Due to our use of open network databases, like Wikipedia and Autohome, for some of our vehicle data, there might be minor variations in the descriptions found in our SKU designs. "Production Years" are the years when a specific model is first introduced to the public market. On the other hand, "Model Years" refer to the different versions of a model that were available to consumers in different years. These differences in model years often come with changes to the exterior or interior design of the vehicle. When searching for car information on websites or through dealers, typically you are searching based on 'Model Years'. For instance, the third generation of the Honda Accord was introduced on June 4th, 1985, and ceased production in 1989. ‘1985-1989’ represents the ‘Production Years’ of the Accord, while the ‘Model Years’ in automobile databases are listed as ‘1986-1989’. Due to the different sources of information, there may be differences in the way they are presented. As our products cover car parts and accessories, we have incorporated both "Production Years" and "Model Years" terminology. Please note this.
  • Compatibility Description of Auto Parts

Auto parts are essential components for the proper functioning of vehicles used in car assembly lines or for maintenance and repair services after purchase. Autobridge™ (Xiamen) provides a wide range of OES, aftermarket replacement parts, including AC compressors, cylinder heads, oil pumps, power steering pumps, starter motors, and turbochargers. These components are installed in powertrains, steering systems, rear axle assemblies, and chassis assemblies. Auto parts need to meet the design specifications and performance requirements of the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts, as well as comply with local regulations or CAPA certification. Depending on the requirements based on OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) for material or design improvements, aftermarket parts may outperform the original genuine parts.

  • Compatibility Description of Car Accessories

Car accessories are AFTERMARKET MODIFIED PARTS for cars after the production line. Autobridge™ (Xiamen) offers a variety of accessories, including an airflow snorkel, bumper, door visors, matting, spoiler, and trunk tray. The car accessories are not performance parts and generally do not affect the original power and safety. They are used to modify the appearance style, enhance off-road capabilities, or increase driving comfort. Compared to the genuine accessories, we offer customization services for aftermarket replacement accessories that cater to the buyer's specific requirements. Each accessory can be designed specifically for different car models.
