The Volkswagen ID.4 is the brand's debut global electric SUV, built on the MEB (Modular Electric Drive Matrix) platform since 2020. As VW's highest-volume EV alongside the ID.3, the ID.4 is sold across Europe, North America, and China — where it is offered through two joint ventures: the ID.4 X by SAIC Volkswagen and the ID.4 Crozz by FAW Volkswagen. Despite regional naming differences, all three variants share identical wheel arch geometry and underbody architecture, making a single mud flap design fully cross-compatible with the entire global ID.4 lineup.
2021 ID.4 (Global) — First production year, RWD 201hp and AWD 302hp variants
2022 ID.4 (Global) — Continued production, GTX performance variant added (wheel arches unchanged)
2023 ID.4 (Global) — Mid-cycle update with revised bumpers; wheel arch geometry unchanged, mud flap fitment unaffected
2024 ID.4 (Global) — Range and infotainment improvements; body shell geometry unchanged from launch
2025-Present ID.4 — Ongoing production; mud flap compatibility fully maintained across all model years
Unlike internal-combustion SUVs, the ID.4's MEB platform positions the high-voltage battery pack beneath the cabin floor. Stone chips and road debris propelled by the front wheels can strike the battery underbody housing, potentially compromising the protective casing over time. Mud flaps deflect thrown debris away from the battery enclosure, wheel arch paint, rocker panels, and rear bumper — a low-cost protection measure that preserves both cosmetic condition and long-term structural integrity. This concern is especially relevant in EV-adoption leader markets such as Norway, the Netherlands, and Germany, where winter road salting, gravel-surfaced rural roads, and high average annual mileage accelerate underbody and wheel-arch wear.
The ID.4 is sold in over 30 countries with particularly strong fleet adoption by leasing companies, corporate EV programs, and ride-hailing operators across Europe and North America. In China, the ID.4 X and ID.4 Crozz variants command significant aftermarket demand through both authorized dealerships and independent accessory importers. Key wholesale buyer segments include: European EV fleet maintenance departments managing multi-brand electric vehicle pools, North American aftermarket accessory distributors expanding into the EV parts category, Chinese export-oriented auto parts traders serving Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern EV aftermarket channels, and Gulf-region EV importers and dealerships supporting the growing electric vehicle market in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.
AutoBridge supplies ID.4 mud flaps in four material grades to match different regional climate demands. All options are pre-drilled with holes that align to the ID.4's factory mounting points — no drilling or modification of the vehicle required.
Material | Recommended Region | Key Characteristics |
|---|---|---|
PP (Standard) | Temperate climates (Germany, UK, France, Japan) | Cost-effective; good flexibility and impact resistance at 0°C to 40°C |
PP+TPE | Cold regions (Norway, Sweden, Canada, northern US) | Enhanced low-temperature flexibility; remains pliable below -10°C without cracking |
TPE (Premium) | EU premium aftermarket distributors | Odorless, superior cold-weather performance; OE-grade finish and texture |
ABS | Hot climates (Middle East, Gulf region) | High heat resistance; rigid structure unaffected by prolonged 45°C+ exposure |
The ID.4's wheel arch liner uses a uniform factory clip-hole layout across all powertrain variants (RWD, AWD, GTX) and body trims (ID.4, ID.4 X, ID.4 Crozz). The supplied plastic fender fastener clips match the OEM hole spacing without modification. For fleet operators installing mud flaps across large EV vehicle pools, the pre-drilled alignment design enables per-vehicle installation in approximately 10 to 15 minutes using basic hand tools.
Clean the wheel arch area with a mild detergent or isopropyl alcohol to remove road grime and any existing wax or sealant before mounting
Align the front mud flap with the pre-existing factory clip holes in the wheel arch liner — the ID.4 MEB platform uses identical mounting-point spacing on both left and right sides
Insert plastic fender clips through the mud flap into the factory mounting holes; secure with the supplied U-clip screws and Allen key (hand-tighten only — the ID.4 wheel arch liner is plastic and may crack if fasteners are over-torqued)
Repeat for rear wheels noting that rear mud flaps are larger (210×345mm vs front 210×290mm) to provide extended coverage behind the rear wheel wells
For cold-climate fleet installations (Nordic markets, Canada): warm PP+TPE or TPE mud flaps to room temperature before fitting — this restores full flexibility for easier alignment in sub-zero workshop conditions
Auto parts are essential components for the proper functioning of vehicles used in car assembly lines or for maintenance and repair services after purchase. Autobridge™ (Xiamen) provides a wide range of OES, aftermarket replacement parts, including AC compressors, cylinder heads, oil pumps, power steering pumps, starter motors, and turbochargers. These components are installed in powertrains, steering systems, rear axle assemblies, and chassis assemblies. Auto parts need to meet the design specifications and performance requirements of the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts, as well as comply with local regulations or CAPA certification. Depending on the requirements based on OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) for material or design improvements, aftermarket parts may outperform the original genuine parts.
Car accessories are AFTERMARKET MODIFIED PARTS for cars after the production line. Autobridge™ (Xiamen) offers a variety of accessories, including an airflow snorkel, bumper, door visors, matting, spoiler, and trunk tray. The car accessories are not performance parts and generally do not affect the original power and safety. They are used to modify the appearance style, enhance off-road capabilities, or increase driving comfort. Compared to the genuine accessories, we offer customization services for aftermarket replacement accessories that cater to the buyer's specific requirements. Each accessory can be designed specifically for different car models.
The Hijet and the Gran Max—one is the ultimate space-saving product under Japan's micro commercial vehicle regulations, and the other is a globalized model that broke free from those constraints to reach the pinnacle of practicality. Whether navigating narrow Tokyo alleys or driving across the vast Southeast Asian market, they demonstrate Daihatsu's "compact cars, big impact" philosophy through solid quality and continuous generational inheritance.
